When deciding what type of siding to go with, there might be more to consider than you think, especially if you care about the resale value of your home. Vinyl is less expensive but does it fit into the style of every home? Wood sometimes requires more maintenance than vinyl, but is it worth the extra effort and maintenance expense. Well the quick answer is that it's very dependent on the styling of your home.
As is the case when picking paint colours, trim, and everything else for your home, the type of siding you choose should fit the style of your home as well. I tend to like wood siding, or products like CanExel or hardy plank siding on any larger homes as well as homes that have character. Wood type products have a much richer look in my opinion, and are well worth the extra costs. The more you spend on the overall look and style of your home, it will net you more in the end when it's time to sell. If your home is a smaller bungalow, there is nothing wrong with vinyl siding at all. In fact wood siding in some cases can even look out of place on a simply designed home that has an affordable feel to it.
If you're having trouble deciding what to choose for your home, I suggest talking to someone who specializes in home design. I would be happy to give my opinion as well if it helps you make the right choices.
Since I'm a big believer that photos and video are now a big part of showcasing homes in their best light, I figured I would post a photo a day, give or take.
